About Us
Boardwise is a software-as-a-service company based in Hamburg, Germany. The founder’s team of four and the management of two share expertise across industries and companies of various sizes and stages. Management Director Sven Rebbert has an extensive background in HR, having improved and digitised both work culture and work flows for more than ten years. Managing Director Dr. Boris Häfele joined the company to share his extensive scale up experience as the successful founder of renowned coffee chain Roastmarket.
Shareholder Phat Consulting in Hamburg was responsible for programming the very first prototype of our software, which was awarded Microsoft's Partner of the Year in 2019 and has become a reliable pillar of the company's success.
Shareholder Johannes Boie, former Editor in Chief of Europe’s largest news group BILD and former Editor in Chief of WELT am Sonntag, created in his role as Chief of Staff Boardwise’s founding idea and continues to foster the company’s growth.
CTO Alexander Kukovskyi is both an experienced technical leader and a successful founder. He joined the company from Ukraine in the beginning of 2023. Today, Boardwise comprises employees from six different nations, each bringing diverse backgrounds and a shared passion for creating software that addresses real-world problems.

At Boardwise, we are convinced that board of directors, supervisory boards, and works councils currently waste too much time organising and conducting their meetings. Our business model aims to make decision-making more efficient and to focus on adding value to the business. That is why we built Boardwise.
Formerly, we named our company Gertrud, in reference to the grandmothers of two of our founders that shared the name. Gertrud stood for a strong woman that was the center of their families and held all the threads together. She was the CEO of our family! With a growing international customer base, we chose an easier-to-understand name: Boardwise.
Boardwise was founded in 2019 in the CEO office of Axel Springer, born out of an internal need. Now we accompany boards, other executives, and provide assistance to organise, plan, and execute their meetings. In the process, empowering them to focus on efficiency.
Organising and running board meetings demands precision; otherwise, it can lead to unsatisfactory outcomes at the executive level. Board management decisions significantly impact both the firm's culture and its employees, therefore, approaching these processes with accuracy and empathy benefits everyone involved.
